Getting Involved
Volunteering with UPF-UK
The Universal Peace Federation UK welcomes individuals from all backgrounds who are motivated by a desire to serve, connect communities, and contribute to a more peaceful and harmonious society. Whether you can offer your time, skills, leadership, or simply your enthusiasm, your involvement helps transform ideals into tangible action.
Our programmes advance interfaith dialogue, youth empowerment, ethical leadership, gender equality, family values, and community cohesion. By volunteering with UPF-UK, you become part of a global movement dedicated to fostering understanding across cultures and generations. Even a small contribution can help create meaningful change — strengthening social bonds, inspiring hope, and building bridges where division once existed.
Volunteering avenues
Explore a few of the ways you can contribute your time, skills, and energy to support peacebuilding and community impact.
Help the Secretariat
The Secretariat forms the organisational backbone of UPF-UK. By assisting the Secretariat team, volunteers contribute directly to the coordination and smooth functioning of programmes, events, and communications that support UPF’s mission of peacebuilding and international cooperation.
This role offers a valuable behind-the-scenes perspective on how an international civil society organisation operates. Volunteers may assist with preparing correspondence, organising schedules, coordinating meetings, supporting communications, maintaining programme documentation, and assisting with event planning and logistics.
For those interested in non-profit management, diplomacy, international relations, or public engagement, working alongside the Secretariat provides meaningful experience and the opportunity to contribute directly to initiatives that promote dialogue, cooperation, and sustainable peace.
Lead a Fundraising Appeal that is close to your heart
UPF-UK encourages individuals who are passionate about humanitarian service or social impact to help mobilise resources that support meaningful peacebuilding initiatives. By leading a fundraising appeal, volunteers can transform personal commitment into practical action that benefits communities and programmes around the world.
This role may involve organising small campaigns, engaging supporters through social media, collaborating with community networks, or coordinating fundraising activities that support education, dialogue initiatives, and humanitarian service.
Leading an appeal is ideal for individuals who enjoy initiative and creativity, and who want to inspire others to support constructive efforts that strengthen communities and promote peace.
Coordinate a UPF Association’s activities
UPF works through several professional associations that bring together experts, leaders, and volunteers committed to addressing key challenges in society. These associations focus on areas such as education, governance, interfaith cooperation, youth leadership, media responsibility, women's empowerment, and sustainable development.
Volunteer coordinators help organise dialogues, workshops, conferences, and initiatives that bring diverse stakeholders together to exchange ideas and develop collaborative solutions.
This opportunity is particularly suited to individuals with professional experience or leadership skills who wish to contribute to constructive platforms for dialogue, cooperation, and social progress.
Support Events and Programmes
UPF-UK regularly hosts conferences, seminars, forums, and community initiatives that bring together people from different backgrounds to explore solutions to social and global challenges. These programmes depend on dedicated volunteers who help create welcoming, organised, and meaningful events.
Volunteers assisting with events may help with venue preparation, participant coordination, technical support, guest reception, registration, hospitality, or programme facilitation.
This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy teamwork and dynamic environments while gaining hands-on experience in event coordination and community engagement.
Become an Intern – gain experience for your CV
Internships provide a structured opportunity for students and young professionals to gain meaningful experience within an international peace organisation. Interns contribute to projects that advance dialogue, cooperation, and community service.
Depending on their interests and skills, interns may assist with research, communications, digital outreach, programme development, partnership engagement, or policy initiatives.
Interns gain valuable professional exposure, develop transferable skills, and build networks that can support future academic and career pathways.
