The UPF World Peace Summit 2020 in early February was just able to occur before the Coronavirus took such a strong hold over human activities all over the world. At that Summit Newt Gingrich, former U.S. Speaker of the House, acknowledged the uniqueness of the occasion. "It is a reminder of how connected we all are. We are all bound together out of a common concern. The recent corona virus outbreak and the wildfires in Australia are a reminder of why we need a movement of people working together in a peaceful way."

How will the COVID 19 virus affect the world? How can we, as Ambassadors for Peace and peace activists, further a world closer to Universal Peace Federation’s vision of interdependence, mutual prosperity and universal values? Will the post-World War II supra-national governance structures be improved and strengthened by rising to the challenge of this corona virus or be weakened by being unable to forge an effective worldwide response? How will civil liberties resurface after the crisis challenged by not only a modern day plaque but by authoritarian use of technological developments?
