Celebration of Marriage, Family and Faith
FFWPU - North of the Thames, WFWP, UPF - UK
This event offered an opportunity to rejuvenate ourselves and to reinforce the bond of marriage. At this inter-religious gathering, we will be celebrating marriage, family and faith. Universal Peace Federation UK partnered with Family Federation for World Peace and Unification - North of the Thames Community and Women's Federation for World Peace.
Officiated by Rev Dr David and Kyunja Hanna and joined by other faith leaders offering prayers from their own traditions the programme was a celebration as well as a rededication of the value of marriage, family and emphasised the significance of faith.
Intended to contribute to the broader global peace marriage initiative, fostered by UPF (Universal Peace Federation), which aims to promote harmonious marriages worldwide on the basis that peaceful families are the bedrock of a peaceful world.
By coming together, we want to celebrate marriage as a sacred institution—a foundation for cultivating healthy and stable families rooted in goodness. Our intention is to unite families from diverse cultures, faiths, and nationalities, with the aim of reviving the spirit of the extended family that has regrettably waned, particularly in the Western world. We seek a sense of community that transcends geographical boundaries, exemplifying the essence of the UPF motto of humanity being "One Family Under God." This motto reflects our commitment to fostering love and peace, not only within our immediate families but also across the global family of nations. Thus Hindu chants from Sonoo Malkani, Muslim prayers from Sheikh Dr Hojjat Ramzy and Christian prayers offered by Rev William Haines contributed to the inter-religious nature of the programme.
During the ceremony, there was a serene and spiritually uplifting atmosphere. After the conclusion of the ceremony Rev William Haines gave congratulatory remarks. We laughed while watching together Mark Grungo's video on male and female brains. The afternoon was completed with sharing of food - thanks to North of the Thames support - and fellowship.
