World Interfaith Harmony Week (WIHW) 2019 was celebrated by Universal Peace Federation UK on February 6th in two sessions. The first, in the afternoon, was convened in partnership with other groups in Parliament. The second session was held at the Lancaster Gate HQ in a programme entitled 'Prayers and Words to Create Harmony'.
Universal Peace Federation (UPF), in its first event of 2019, joined with a number of activists, campaigners and advocates for humanitarian causes to consider the development of mutual networks. The aim of this meeting was to bring peace partners together with the hope of future collaboration on common issues to promote community cohesion and consider methods of conflict resolution.
Universal Peace Federation's Annual Peace Council is the year end drawing together of Ambassadors for Peace, long standing friends of UPF and Branch Chairs etc from across the UK. Areas of activity such as the work with Young Achievers, Women's Empowerment, Family and Marriage and the Inter-relationship of Religion and Politics were all included with updates from UPF activities around the world.
On November 28th, the Universal Peace Federation UK and the Women's Federation for World Peace UK commemorated the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Speakers included Baroness Pola Uddin, Baroness Meral Hussein-Ece, Ms Caroline Makaka, Ms Carole Stone OBE, Ms Jacqueline Onalo and Ms Raj Holness. Kindly hosted in the House of Lords by Hon.
