At the conclusion of Day Two of the 'Human Rights: Protection of the Unempowered and the Dispossessed' European Leadership Conference, several Ambassador for Peace Awards were presented and some participants gave reflections. Jack Corley was coordinating the session and with, Dr Yong Cheon Song, presented the Ambassador for Peace Awards.
Ms. Sudesh Sharma, a UK Ambassador for Peace, said she learned so much and had much pleasure listening to the distinguished speakers from a variety of fields, empowering others and was absolutely amazed how people have taken inspiration from Father Moon to do such wonderful work in furthering the cause for peace.
Joy Philiipou said that conferences like this really motivate us to actually do something. The atmosphere of love and cooperation brings a feeling of nothing other than sheer joy. “This room has so many nations, it is like a united nations in itself”.
Dr Yong Cheon Song, Regional Director of UPF-Europe, spoke on the importance of self governance and how the core principle of living for the sake of others is the governing methodology and principle of action found in the sacred writing of the great religions. He called it the natural law of the Universe and said that violating this law causes “grave consequences”. Peace begins with the individual, and if an individual becomes enslaved by his passions he is incapable of good self governance and is therefore unable to govern anything in the outside world. So in order to bring about peace we must first conquer the battle within ourselves.
