It was with deep regret that all at Universal Peace Federation learned of the passing yesterday of our renowned former Prime Minister and dear friend Baroness Thatcher, after a stroke. We join with so many others around the nation and the entire world in mourning her passing and expressing our heartfelt condolences to her family - particularly her two children, Sir Mark Thatcher and Ms Carol Thatcher. Our thoughts and prayers at this sad time are with Lady Thatcher herself (may she truly rest in peace!) and with her surviving family! You are cordially invited to celebrate the UN International Women's Day (IWD) 2013 organised by the Universal Peace Federation and its friends and supporting organisations. We are pleased to welcome Lady Fiona Hodgson CBE, who will have just returned from attending the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) conference in New York. She will give us some highlights on this year's CSW and also talk about the Prevention of Sexual Violence in Conflict and Post-Conflict Situations Initiative launched by the Foreign Secretary last May and which will be a focus for the G8 during the UK Presidency.
The UPF-UK Annual Peace Council was a full day of the ideals and the activities of the Universal Peace Federation worldwide. There were the ideals and values as expressed by European UPF President Dr Yong Cheon Song and UK UPF Chairman Jack Corley. The activities of local, national, European and other continents featured during the day. Mark Brann, UPF European Secretary General, summarised developments worldwide especially reporting on the development of the European Leadership Conference series and the North Korean Medical Project.

8th December Draft Programme:
Father Moon was a truly unique figure, who has left his mark on the world, on history and on the future, through his more than nine decades of service and sacrifice, based on living for the sake of others as a peace-loving global citizen. Father Moon's work and example touched all continents and countries and there are so many people better qualified than myself to reflect on different aspects of his unique contribution. However, Father Moon's teachings of peace, reconciliation and love are nowhere more relevant and needed than in his own beloved home country of Korea.
