Africa Day 2017 was a colourful and inspiring programme of speakers, music and African foods. Held at UK - UPF HQ on Saturday, May 20th, speakers from across the continent came to celebrate Africa Day. The audience were from all over the world attracted maybe by Africa's colour and enthusiasm. A video was shown of Africa Day being celebrated in New York with the former UN Secretary General HE Ban Ki Moon.
Henri-Pierre Koubaka ( Video Link ) is a Journalist and Project Manager at Children's Radio Foundation, He has travelled throughout Africa as a journalist. In his current role he has visited the remote and dangerous conflict zones of Africa to train journalists so that the world knows what is happening. Despite the many difficulties he found talented young journalists who were allowing their communities to heal through the chance to discuss their problems openly.

Charlotte Simon, ( Video Link ), spoke of her experience of visiting the Democratic Republic of Congo again after many years and despite warnings that it might not be safe to return. She had many sad experiences but finds hope in the spirit of the people she met and the inherent culture of the Congolese people that has never been suppressed by their suffering. Charlotte prepared delicious Congolese food for the day.

Some of the organizations he has worked for in London include Shape a disabled persons empowering organization and Worldwrite a charity that deals with issues shunned by the mainstream media. At Worldwrite he has been a researcher about the European and English canon, slavery, colonialism literature and the works of powerful historian CLR James. He joined ZimLink, an international organization that promotes culture exchange and empowering individuals through the use of media
